The year 2023 saw the holding of the 38th Congress of the Companion Union, as well as the renewal of its board of directors to the tune of 80%, in the wake of my election by the Tour de France. If I were to summarize my approach in a few words, I would say that it is to preserve our tradition with the help of all the Companions by adapting to the new challenges that become ours.
A year ends, a new one begins... The same perpetual movement that raises our gaze towards the future by remaining faithful to our values and to the principles dear to the heart of the members of the Companion Union and all its sympathizers...
For this new editorial, we could simply repeat the same proposals of the last two years, as long as the course we set ourselves remains unchanged in our commitment to our Companion institution. This would mean neglecting the fact that we are all actually writing a new page in the history of our Union. Evidence of this is with the effects of the reforms and proposals that have been under way for almost three years. We are witnessing the emergence of a new dynamic that revives our commitment and the sum of our know-how more than ever!
However, the resolutions of the Companion Union of our last term of office as well as those that follow will have to strengthen our determination to anchor our commitments to the values bequeathed by our elders, the very ones who created the Union with the desire to initiate a society of free and equal men in rights and duties. The strength and rigour of our actions must be faithful to this ideal that binds us.
Always anxious to support our brothers and sisters in the great impetus of the solidarity carried by our Companion, we must defend, more than ever, a modern conception of emancipation through his profession in an uncertain century.
Always eager to welcome young people in order to help them find meaning in their work and in their daily lives by joining the ranks of the Companionage, we must help those young people leaving schools or MAF competitions to find the path of excellence in transmission, love for well-made work, sharing and self-help, which must be the pillars of know-how and know-how.
Share our knowledge! This will be the slogan that binds us together on the Tour de France and makes us Companions of the United Duties by working together under the hospices of our three legendary founders: Solomon, James and Soubie.
Finally, there remain essential moments that bring us together like the end-of-year celebrations and the subsequent vows: it is good to remind his loved ones and friends how important they are to us during this period.
