BACKGROUND
The presence of Companions of the Tour de France à la Roche sur Yon (prefecture of the Vendée and new town by the Napoleonic will) dates from the 19th century.
In 1892, the Union Compagnonnique des Devoirs Unis was founded at La Roche on Yon by Companions of all the former Devoirs.
Its priorities will be to provide evening classes and to operate the mutual relief society (very important at the time).
NEWLY
La Cayenne (from the lower Latin Caya, which means house) de la Roche sur Yon is the only house of Companions in the Department and brings together 20 sedentary companions welcoming young applicants and aspirants wishing to perfect their knowledge in the profession they have chosen.
ACTIVITIES
The meetings of Companions take place once a month...the meetings of young people, future Companions, also take place once a month, or at their request.
Open days for the general public take place with the national days (Heritage Days – Craft days etc...)
Private visits can be made to visit the small museum and discover the Companionage, at the request of private persons or school groups.
Specific courses are organized at the request of young people who wish to improve their knowledge in the professions that the Companions de la Roche sur Yon represent.
Companions can organise exhibitions or conferences to make teenagers aware of the manual trades and the possibilities of flourishing through the knowledge of a trade.
