The Cayenne de Rennes is one of the youngest cities in the world. Companion Union on the Tour de France since it was created on 17 April 1982.
It was under the impulse of some Rennes Companions frequenting the section of Fougères that the idea of founding a Cayenne in Rennes took shape. More particularly the Country Mainguet « Castelbriantais la Wisdom » Country Giffard « Fountains The Friend of Honor », then president of the Fougères section.
In the history of companionship, Rennes, the capital of Brittany, was removed from the Tour de France. Although it is an important regional city, Rennes is an administrative and university city, while Nantes, a port and industrial city and Fougères capital of footwear and granite region, offered work for the various trades on the Tour de France.
From its creation, our Cayenne had much success. She received many young people in different professions. If we didn't have a seat yet, the meetings were held in the workshop of the Laurent Country « Ile de France la Tenacité » for several years.
Then the reindeer elected offered us a building to restore on the outskirts of the city, offering us all the materials on condition that we carry out the work ourselves. What was done with the help of the Companions of the Companion Federation of Building trades.
The Mayor of Rennes Mr Edmond HERVÉ, made us the happy surprise to name the street of residence of our Cayenne « Agricol Perdiguier Road » previously called « Way of the Mare ». A major inaugural celebration took place on 17 April 1988 in the presence of the city's dignitaries. We are proud to be the only city on our beautiful Tour de France to be housed in the street that bears the name of the noble builder of the Union.
Eight years after its creation, our Cayenne organizes the 27th Congress from 22 to 25 August 1990.
Our first Mother; the « Mother Yvette Mainguet », « Caltelbriantaise la Franchise »was intonized on 16 April 1999. Then our second Mother, the « Mother Annie Foucher », « Vannetese Union Support » 24 April 1999. It was our Mother Foucher who made and embroidered our Banner entirely by hand.
In August 2003, our Cayenne established the European Congress of Companions (CCEG). Major construction site set up by the Rennes Companions, assisted by some Nantes Companions of the Companion Union and the Companion Federation of Building Crafts. More than 300 Companions were present: German in large numbers, Belgian, Swiss, Danish and Scandinavian countries. Important gathering that will be remembered for a long time.
