Present in all « Duties » for centuries and still today, the temple of Solomon, ancient monument « lighthouse » is the source of an imaginary fruitful companion. It will be seen through the prism of iconography but also texts, where the idealized figure of the temple is recurring and around which blends symbols and myths.

The will of Napoleon Gaillard, by Frédéric Thibault
The Companion Cordonnier Du Devoir Napoleon Gaillard is a character whose life is a novel.
« Shoe artist » Nîmois the Loyal, as he liked to name himself, was an active revolutionary activist from an early age in Nîmes and then in Paris from 1850. Through some unpublished documents we will discover his commitment as « Chief of Barricades » during the 72 days that the Commune of Paris lasted, its rocking flight from the capital, its exile in Geneva and its last days in Paris before dying on October 18, 1900.

The Companion between History and Memory, by François Icher
From the origins (legendary and historical) to the current companion landscape, through the main phases (Middle Age, Industrial Revolution(s), Vichy, the question of mixity...), the conference is intended to be a synthetic presentation of the companion identity through time while addressing the construction and evolution of the system of values around which the companions are structured.
