A new chapter opens for Sayat's communal heritage with the signature of the Emphyteotic lease between the municipality and the city.Union compagnonnique. The old cure will soon host a Cayenne, i.e. a companion house intended for both associative life, training and accommodation of young aspirants in the turn of France.

This is a rare event for a municipality: a Cayenne is not only a meeting place for companions, but also a centre for transmitting craftsmanship. It regularly welcomes young itinerants who travel through France to improve their skills and work on various construction sites.
Before achieving this objective, several rehabilitation works will have to be undertaken in the old cure building. The programme includes the replacement of carpentry, renovation of interior paints and possible insulation work.
The partnership established is based on a logic of cooperation between the commune and the companions: the municipality provides the materials while the companions carry out the labour. This first phase of work represents an investment of 9,331.91 € TTC for the community.
The official signing of the lease took place on 23 January, prior to the municipal vows ceremony. It was concluded by the mayor Nicolas Weinmeister and Dominique Dubray, president of the local companion section, surrounded by several members of the association.

Beyond the renovation of the building, this establishment should also boost local life. Companions are planning to organize various public events: exhibitions of artisanal masterpieces, trade demonstrations and initiation workshops, particularly in the fields of pastry and chocolate. These are opportunities to introduce the general public to the richness of traditional craftsmanship and the demand for « work well done ».
An artistic project for the church of Sayat.
This partnership between the commune and the companions has already given rise to a first heritage project: the restoration and creation of a stained glass window for the church of Sayat.
Presented at the municipal vows, this initiative is led by Céline Bachelot, glass painter and heritage curator. Vacuum cleanerUnion compagnonnique and currently involved in its tour of France, it already has a solid experience on many construction sites in France and Europe, including that of Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris.

This project perfectly illustrates the spirit of companionship: putting artisanal know-how at the service of the transmission, creation and valorisation of heritage.
